How to be secure your data from public WIFI???

Most of the time we are connected to the internet and sometimes that means having to use a public WIFI. We connect to a public WiFi without giving much thought for our security. Connecting to a public wifi at your favorite Cafe,Shopping mall, library and especially airports and railway stations can make you more attractive for the hackers. According to a research done by Norton, 87% of the people deliberately take risks while connected to public wifi and 38% of the apps do not have the essentials to protect your data while connected to a network.

Check out the steps below to make sure you escape those things:

1. Use VPN:

A Virtual Private Network (VPN) hide your IP address and location. It encrypts your data and sends it through a private tunnel even when connected to a public network. You can download the VPN through your official app stores.

2. Stop file sharing:

File sharing on a public WiFi is the worst thing for your security. Your photos, videos, files and other data could be accessible to anyone connected on the same network.
You can turn off this feature on windows by this way:
Control Panel>Network and Internet>Sharing options.
On Mac Os open Apple menu>System Preferences>Sharing>Uncheck the file sharing tick box.

3. Switch off your Bluetooth:

In public places, hackers can use other wireless signals like Bluetooth. It can connect to any open Bluetooth device and he can access the device. Always check your Bluetooth settings when you are in a public place and turn off the auto search option before completely turning off the Bluetooth.

4. Use strong password:

If you use the same password across many accounts, hackers can easily able to access them all. Gaining the password of a particular account can lead all your other accounts being hacked. You can use password managers for generating unique and strong passwords.

5. Took a back up your data:

Backing up your important data regularly is a good practice. If your device gets infected and the virus deletes your data, you can always retrieve your data from your online backup. You can use backup tools like Google Drive or iCloud. They are free up to a certain storage and is a product of major companies like Google and Apple.
